I recently got a chance to test the ROVE R2-4K DUAL Dash Cam, and here’s my honest take after setting it up and trying out its main features.

Setup & Installation
The unboxing experience was solid – it comes with both front and rear cameras, a 128GB microSD card (which was a nice bonus), power cables, mounting tools, and even a trim removal tool.

Installation wasn’t too complicated, but routing the rear camera cable took a bit of patience. It’s not difficult, just something to be aware of if you want a clean, tucked-in setup.

Video Quality
The front camera records in real 4K, and you can definitely see the difference. The rear camera is 1080p, which is good enough for general awareness behind the car.

In lower light, the STARVIS 2 sensor by Sony and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) tech seem to help a lot – night footage looked clearer than I expected.
App & Connectivity
The dash cam connects to your phone via 5GHz WiFi, which actually works fast.

I was able to preview and download video files through the ROVE app without much waiting.

The app lets you live view, change settings, and transfer videos directly to your phone.

Features That Stand Out
- Loop Recording and G-Sensor work together so older footage gets overwritten unless something triggers a collision – then it locks that clip automatically.
- GPS is built-in, and adds your route and speed info to the video overlay.
- There’s also a 24-Hour Parking Mode, but it only works properly if you install a hardwire kit (sold separately). I didn’t test that part, but it’s something to consider if you want constant surveillance when your car’s off.

CPL Filter – Worth It
I also tested the optional CPL filter, and it made a noticeable difference. It reduces glare and helps prevent overexposure in bright conditions – especially when driving on sunny days or near reflective surfaces. Definitely worth picking up if you drive a lot during daylight hours.

Build Quality
The dash cam uses a supercapacitor instead of a lithium battery, which means it’s better suited for hot climates and long-term durability. That’s important if your car sits in the sun often.

Overall First Impressions
From what I’ve tested, the ROVE R2-4K DUAL Dash Cam feels like a well-built, feature-rich dash cam. The video quality is solid and detailed, especially at the front. The app is useful, and the included accessories make setup easier than expected.

If you’re looking for something reliable with decent day/night performance and dual-channel coverage, it seems like a strong option. Just be prepared to get the hardwire kit if you want to unlock full parking mode functionality.
